Panama Beaches…

With 1500 islands, 805 miles (1,288 k) of Caribbean coastline and 1,063 miles (1,700 k) of Pacific coastline there is no shortage of beaches ! sugary white sand islands to salt and pepper playa′s on the mainland, you won′t have a hard time finding a good one to kick back and relax on.

The Caribbean has hundreds of islands worth visiting. The San Blas Islands are made up of hundreds of coconut covered islands, some only the size of a football field, perfect for and afternoon siesta in a hammock. Learn about the Kuna culture, enjoy the topaz seas, snorkel and buy yourself a ‘mola’. Also located in the Caribbean is the Archipielago Bocas Del Toro. Surf up! And the nightlife is on most every night…

The Pacific coast has some legendary surf beaches (Venao and Santa Catalina) and beaches most Panamanians use as their local hangouts and for weekend getaways (any beach within 2 hours of the city). Plus, there are hundreds more islands! Check out the deep blue sea around the Pearl Islands or Coiba National Park for some of the world’s best diving!

Getting There:

Most people fly into the main international airport, Tocumen, although there are rare flights to Enrique Malek, near David and the Costa Rican border. You can also cross from Costa Rica by land in three places, 1 on each coast and 1 in the mountains. There are busses available to all three borders and after crossing, just be aware of the times. From Tocumen you are only about 20 minutes from the center of Panama City. Taxi′s cost about $25 or you can rent your own car (not highly recommended).
